Wessex offer free, no obligation quotations where a Wessex Sales Manager (or ASM) will get in contact with you to book an appointment where they can visit your house and give you an idea of cost. But what should you expect from one of these sales visits, what will the ASM be able to help you with, and what will you come away knowing?

What to expect...

A typical visit from one of our ASM's is fairly simple. According to Kevin Adam's, one of our ASM's based in Hampshire who visits people in the central south of the UK;

We first agree a date and time with you that's mutually agreeable (by phone or by email), and will arrive on your doorstep then to conduct the site survey.

All of us carry a Wessex ID card, so if you're concerned about letting someone into your house, I personally always bring that with me to the door! Once inside, I get to sit down with great people who are looking at the possibility of having a Wessex Lift installed.

We first discuss what you want, and you can show us places, or a place, in the home that you'd like the lift. We'll move onto the functional requirements for the lift (does it need to be large enough for a certain wheelchair, etc.). We finally discuss the feasibility of fitting such a lift in your space. If it can be fitted; brilliant! If it won't fit, we can take measurements from various points in the house, go away, and try and find a place you can achieve access in your home.

The final things we sometimes discuss are unique features and aesthetic elements, if those are something you want in your lift.

We've aimed to make the process a listening exercise as much as possible, and want to work with you to figure out where you can put the lift in your home.

What not to expect!

We want to touch upon things our ASM's won't do.

Our ASM is there to explore options with you about how you can achieve accessibility potential in and around your home. As such, they are not there to drive a hard sale. Unlike some companies, if you let us know you don't think our products will work out for you, you will not expect constant, annoying follow-ups; we don't do that here!

Wessex ASM's will also outline what is possible with the space available in your home. If you have a place you really want the lift to go, our ASM's will not brush you off immediately for a more easy to install location. If something is really not possible, they will of course let you know and discuss with you the alternatives available to you.

Ways you can help our ASM's...

Just like any tradesperson visiting your home, you can make the visit from one of our ASM's smoother by doing some preparation!

The most obvious thing you might be able to do is clear the area around where you're hoping to position the lift, if possible. However, we fully understand if this isn't possible, but if you can, it'll save time during the visit.

Another big thing you can do is to try and mention, where possible, pertinent information about the location you want the lift to go. For example, a very big obstacle for a through the floor lift can be under-floor heating. Because our through-floor lifts travel through an aperture in the floor, if that floor is set up with under-floor heating, this can be a challenge to overcome. Anything like this that you think might affect the lift being installed is worth mentioning, no matter how small!

All this is to say: our ASM's are a very friendly bunch, and have a combined 100+ years of experience visiting homes and helping people achieve independence! Please feel free to sales@wessexlifts.co.uk email address.
