The National Association of Elevator Contractors Annual Convention and Exposition was, this year, held in Atlantic City. It was initially meant to be held in mid September and in Florida but, due to the devastation of Hurricane Irma, it was postponed. The organisers of the NAEC deserve a great deal of praise for managing to reorganise the entire event at such short notice and with such efficiency, so the event was rescheduled to 25th and 26th.
Wessex was lucky enough to attend the convention and we've enjoyed every minute. Meeting great people from across the industry has been a really valuable experience. Here's a little breakdown of what each day had to offer;
Setting Up, Day 1 – 22nd September
"Good first day in Atlantic City. All of our equipment arrived safely after escaping the clutches of Hurricane Irma down in Florida. The NAEC organizers couldn't be more helpful and we made excellent progress. Everything has been unpacked, both rigs have been assembled; all in all a very good first day. "
Setting Up, Day 2 – 23rd September
"Another good day in Atlantic City. Lifts both working and the rigs dressed and in their final position. All ready for a good clean on the final day of build tomorrow! "
Setting Up, Day 3 – 24th September
"The build is finished! Both lifts load tested, cleaned and polished ready for visitors tomorrow. "
The Event, Day 1 – 25th September
"The first day of the show, and a truly great first day, meeting with old friends and new. The day finished with dinner in the excellent Gordon Ramsey "British Pub" with new friends from Florida, Kentucky and Idaho. "
The Event, Day 2 – 26th September
"A steady day today; quieter than yesterday. Mainly spoke with existing Dealers, plus new ones that visited our booth yesterday coming back for further information (always a good sign!). A new Dealer in Kentucky has invested in purchasing both the show-rigs. "
Packing Up, Day 1 - 27th September
"We worked hard breaking down the stand and, with great help from everyone at the convention centre (especially an excellent forklift driver, called Billy Bob), we got everything packed away swiftly. "
We've had an amazing time at the NAEC this year, and are sad that it's come to an end. Thanks once again to the event's organizers, thanks to everyone who has turned up to say 'hi' and especially to Pete, Drew and Mary for all their help with the event.
See you next year.
